Rawalpindi: Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) announced that the Terms of Reference (ToR) have been approved for the preparation of the Master Plan in Rawalpindi according to published media reports.

At the 44th RDA meeting, the Expression of Interest (EOI) was invited to prepare the master plan and the structural development plan of the district of Rawalpindi by the well-known consultancy services companies.

In addition, in 2013 the government of Punjab delegated to the municipal authorities the task of approving new housing schemes in the district of Rawalpindi and the Authority took action to prevent further mushrooming in the district of illegal housing projects. The government subsequently referred to RDA approved and subsequent housing schemes in 2019.

It was reported that 25 schemes, of which only 6 were approved, were developed between 2013 and 2019. Currently, RDA Pakistan has issued 78 challan, 292 legal advisories, 106 sealed offices and inscribed 99 FIRs, and the unapproved housing companies’ advertising boards and gates have been destroyed.

In addition, the utilities such as Sui Gas, IESCO and PTCL were asked to refrain from offering their services and the district collector was asked to stop land transactions within these companies. In addition, the unapproved housing schemes’ marketing and booking offices have been sealed. RDA has also uploaded the authority’s website with a list of approved housing plans.
